"Log cabin" quilts were arguably an early form of abstract art. Popular during the 1800s, they were often made with a red center square signifying home. When hung on lines, quilts in this pattern also signified Underground Railroad safe houses. Today, this unique heritage is reflected in our "log cabin" hot pad, which is both modern and classic at the same time. Each hot pad is handmade made by Stranger Seams in the Paris of Appalachia — Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Founder Ashley Cole says she's inspired by the countless quilters who came before her and loves carrying on their tradition in fresh and creative ways.
